In a recent diplomatic dialogue held in Hanoi, Vietnam and France have reiterated their dedication to enhancing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This commitment was underscored by a mutual agreement to deepen cooperation across multiple domains, including diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. Both nations reviewed the progress made in their bilateral relations and resolved to expedite the implementation of their partnership action plan.

Vietnam emphasized the importance of bolstering collaboration in areas such as defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, and critical minerals, alongside significant infrastructure projects. The Vietnamese representatives also urged France to hasten the ratification process of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA). Additionally, they sought continued French support in advocating for the lifting of the European Union’s “yellow card” on Vietnamese seafood exports, which has been a concern for Vietnam’s seafood industry.

On the other hand, France highlighted Vietnam’s strategic significance as a partner within the Asia-Pacific region. The French authorities expressed their enthusiasm for broadening cooperative efforts in sectors such as nuclear energy, rare earths, satellite technology, and transportation infrastructure. They also showed interest in furthering partnerships in healthcare and cultural exchanges, seeing these as vital areas for enhanced bilateral ties.

Both nations committed to working together on regional and global issues, with a shared vision of promoting multilateralism, dialogue, and sustainable development. Their pledge to strengthen coordination on these fronts reflects a mutual understanding of the importance of collective action in addressing global challenges. This collaboration is seen as a step forward in fostering a more resilient and interconnected international community.
