In a bid to strengthen economic ties and attract high-quality foreign investments, Vietnam’s National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn has embarked on discussions with leaders of leading South Korean conglomerates in Seoul. His visit is aimed at bolstering collaborations in high-tech sectors, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and sustainable development. During a meeting with Samsung Electronics CEO Roh Tae-moon, Mẫn lauded the tech giant for its significant contributions to Vietnam’s economy through investments and job creation, encouraging further expansion in high-tech investments to aid the country’s economic growth.
Samsung’s CEO Roh assured that the company remains committed to aligning its operations with Vietnam’s developmental priorities, particularly in digital transformation and technological innovation. Samsung has been instrumental in supporting Vietnamese enterprises by implementing initiatives like smart factory automation and skills development programs, which are expected to further boost the technological landscape in Vietnam.
Mẫn’s talks with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won focused on enhancing investments in semiconductors, AI, and renewable energy. He expressed optimism about SK’s proposal to establish a substantial AI center in Vietnam, which aligns with the country’s ambitions to advance its energy infrastructure and develop AI data centers. Such initiatives are poised to propel Vietnam further into the realm of technological advancement and sustainable development.
The National Assembly President also engaged with LG Innotek CEO Moon Hyuk-soo, highlighting LG Group’s robust investment of over $10 billion in Vietnam. Mẫn urged LG to deepen its collaboration with local suppliers and focus on advancing technology and skills development. LG acknowledged Vietnam’s pivotal role in its global production network, underscoring the importance of this partnership.
Additionally, Mẫn met with Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin, advocating for increased investments in smart urban development, infrastructure, and tourism. He emphasized the importance of sustainability and maintaining high environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards in their projects. These meetings reflect Vietnam’s strategic efforts to enhance economic cooperation with South Korea, particularly in advanced technology and digital industries, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship.
