In a display of deepening international relations, Vietnam and Qatar celebrated their growing partnership during Vietnam’s National Day event in Doha. The occasion, which marked the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, brought together an array of senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders, underscoring the expanding cooperation between the two nations.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep highlighted the progress in Vietnam’s development and the strengthening of ties with Qatar and other global partners. Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1993, Vietnam and Qatar have expanded their cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, energy, and telecommunications, among others.
The economic relationship between the two countries has seen significant growth, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $423 million in 2025. This increase reflects rising business engagement and the emergence of new investment opportunities, further solidifying the economic bonds between Vietnam and Qatar.
High-level exchanges have been a cornerstone of this relationship, exemplified by the visit of Qatar’s prime minister to Vietnam in October 2024. Both countries have expressed a keen interest in further enhancing their bilateral cooperation and exploring additional economic partnerships.
The event in Doha not only celebrated Vietnam’s national achievements but also emphasized the importance of peace, dialogue, and international cooperation, key themes that continue to shape the dynamic relationship between Vietnam and Qatar.
