In a bid to enhance partnerships and assess current engagements, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyễn Minh Vũ recently visited the Cambodian provinces of Stung Treng and Kratie. His agenda included fostering collaboration between Vietnamese regional authorities and northeastern Cambodian counterparts, as well as evaluating the business operations of Vietnamese enterprises and the status of the Vietnamese-origin community residing there.

During his visit, discussions with local Cambodian leaders revolved around broadening cooperation across various sectors such as trade, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and investment. Cambodian officials noted the strengthening ties with Vietnamese provinces, which have been facilitated through cooperation agreements, business exchanges, and multiple development initiatives.

Kratie province, in particular, acknowledged the significant strides made in its diplomatic and socio-economic partnerships with Vietnam. This includes collaborative efforts in infrastructure development and the joint mission of locating and repatriating the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who perished during wartime in Cambodia.

Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ praised Vietnamese businesses active in sectors like agriculture, mining, and rubber production in Cambodia, recognizing their role in bolstering local economic growth and enhancing bilateral relations. In Stung Treng, local officials underscored the province’s potential for investment in high-tech agriculture and eco-tourism, urging more Vietnamese businesses to seize opportunities in the area.

Additionally, the ambassador engaged with representatives of the Vietnamese-origin community to address legal and livelihood challenges, emphasizing the importance of adhering to local laws while promoting education and sustainable development. With over 200 investment projects in Cambodia and a total registered capital nearing $3 billion, Vietnam stands as one of the largest foreign investors in the country.
