United Thai Nation (UTN) Party leader Pirapan Salirathavibhaga announced on Sunday that the party is fully prepared for the upcoming general election, unveiling a platform built on “decisive leadership” to address Thailand’s most pressing challenges.
Speaking at a press conference alongside party-list and constituency candidates, Mr. Pirapan said Thailand’s long-running problems persist because past leaders lacked the courage and impartiality to resolve them. He stressed that conflicts of interest and indecisiveness have allowed small issues to escalate into national crises, adding that the UTN is free from vested interests and focused on structural reform.
Highlighting his tenure as deputy prime minister and energy minister, he noted achievements such as lowering electricity prices from nearly 5 baht per unit to 3.94 baht in 2024, saving the public over 27 billion baht. He also said he reduced the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand’s debt from 90 billion to 40 billion baht, pledging further reductions if elected.
Outlining the party’s policy direction, Mr. Pirapan said Thailand must tackle multiple crises simultaneously, including corruption, drug trafficking, weakened sovereignty, social inequality, and the deteriorating agricultural sector. He restated his tough stance on graft, saying corrupt individuals must be removed, and proposed isolating major drug dealers on a remote island.
He also pledged stronger support for vulnerable groups, lower production costs for farmers, and a major overhaul of the bureaucracy and budget system to “return power to the people.”
