Putin Faults US and EU for Hindering Global Growth with Sanctions

by admin477351

Russian President Vladimir Putin has squarely blamed the United States and the European Union for impeding global economic growth through their use of “discriminatory sanctions.” Speaking before the SCO Summit, he argued that these measures, imposed over the Ukraine conflict, have far-reaching negative consequences beyond their intended targets.

Putin pointed out that both Russia and China are aligned in their opposition to these sanctions, viewing them as a tool that obstructs the socioeconomic progress of not just their own nations but also the broader developing world. This shared perspective has strengthened their resolve to work together within frameworks like BRICS and the SCO.

The Russian leader underscored that the goal is to enhance the ability of these non-Western blocs to tackle global challenges independently. “We stand united in strengthening BRICS’ ability to address pressing global challenges,” he remarked, signaling a move towards creating more resilient and autonomous economic systems.

This critique of Western economic policy is expected to be a central theme at the Tianjin summit. Putin’s comments are a clear call to other SCO members to join in shaping a global environment where development is not hindered by what he describes as politically motivated and unfair economic penalties.
